Vegas, Chalk Paint, & Lots of Fabric!

Hello.

Remember me? I know, I know, my blog has been so neglected the past month. But, I'm on vacation, so it's okay, right?

I'm linking up to share my Five For Friday!

Last week, I attended the I Teach 1st conference in Las Vegas with my teacher bestie, Jessica, and a couple of other teachers from our first grade team. We had a blast!
We stayed at The Venetian. Our rooms were gorgeous!

We attended several sessions by our favorite bloggers! They were AMAZING! My mind was spinning with all sorts of new ideas to take back to my own classroom!

These are just a few of the many sessions we attended!

On Wednesday night, Jessica and I attended a teacher blogger meet-up! All of our favorite "teacher celebrities" were there! I got to meet The First Grade Parade, The Kindergarten Smorgasboard, Mrs. Giraffe, and Amy Lemons in person! Did I mention IN PERSON?! It was no longer me stalking  perusing their blogs and Instagram for the latest and greatest teaching ideas. I actually got to talk to them! Seriously. Star-struck.

Here I am with Greg, from The Kindergarten Smorgasbord. Eeeek!

Here we are with Mrs. Giraffe!

We left the meet-up with some serious "teacher swag!" The meet-up ended at about 9pm. We were starving. We had to find a place to eat.  Let me just say...you know you're a teacher when you're walking around Vegas with a bright orange Go Noodle bag and school supplies at 9 o'clock at night!

I also won a t-shirt from Jen Jones at Hello Literacy, earlier that day!

Speaking of t-shirts...we had these cute shirts made at the conference! Aren't they adorable?

It wasn't all work while we were in Vegas. We definitely took advantage of all the delicious food and the pool!

We may have stood in line for almost two hours at this bakery! #cakeboss

Basically, we ate our way through Vegas:).

The conference was awesome, but I was happy to get back home. A week in Vegas is a long time!

A couple of weeks ago, I got together with two of my teacher friends and made fabric chandeliers!

We purchased all of our fabric from Joann's (using our teacher discount, and lots of coupons!)

We measured, cut, and tore up all the fabric. We had a ton of fabric! To think we were afraid we wouldn't have enough:).

We made a total of six chandeliers-and plan to hang them in our classroom windows.

LOVE LOVE LOVE how they turned out!

Ok, I did it. I joined Periscope. I said I wasn't going to....and then saw how much fun all the other teachers are having! I really didn't need anymore social media in my life. I haven't done my first broadcast yet. To tell you the truth, I'm a little nervous. Eventually. For now, I'll enjoy everyone else's broadcasts! It truly is amazing to see the teacher community come together to inspire and encourage one another. If you'd like to find me on Periscope, search @laughlovelearn.

I probably should've saved this one for #madeitmonday! But, here it is. This desk has been sitting in my office for years! I've been wanting to give it a little make-over! I decided it was nothing a little chalk paint couldn't handle. I looked all over Pinterest getting ideas. This had to be easy, right? Everyone is doing it. People chalk paint everything these days. Let me start by saying that painting is not easy, even if Pinterest says so. This project took me all day.

Despite the many hours it took me...I LOVE the way it turned out! I still need to replace the handles (or paint them white).

I know many of you are already planning for Back to School! So, I thought I'd share my Back to School pack. Head over to my TpT store to purchase a copy!

Happy Friday!
